Rebecca [White] Mushtare’s work is often inspired by observation and curiosity and guided by research. She is trained as a graphic designer (BFA, SUNY Oswego) and a computer artist (MFA, Syracuse University). While in graduate school she discovered fiber arts and her own maternal history within fiber arts. Her work now combines and spans both fiber and digital arts and techniques.

For Mushtare, creative work in all media is a doorway leading to dialogue and action surrounding a wide variety of contemporary local and global concerns/practices. This belief has historically led her to seek local teaching artist opportunities including: her current Assistant Professorship at Marymount Manhattan College, Art Daze (Aldrich Museum), The Art Institute (SUNY Oswego), and the YMCA of Greater Syracuse After-School Arts Program (Delaware Elementary).

Mushtare has exhibited her work in group shows across NY State including Rochester, Syracuse, Binghamton, Rome, Auburn, and NYC. She has also been fortunate enough to present her work internationally in Liverpool, England and Split, Croatia.
